Waiting is not the whole practice
On Sankashti Chaturthi, Neel kept looking through the window for the Moon. He had planned to wait before eating, but his younger sister felt unwell after playing outside. Their father made her a simple meal and reminded Neel that a vrata is a practice of care, not a contest of endurance. Neel drank water, helped his sister rest, and waited for the Moon with a calmer heart. When it appeared, the family offered a prayer together. The waiting had taught him to notice more than the sky.
What the moon teaches
Fasting and observance rules vary. Health, age, medication, and family guidance matter; a local panchang is needed for moonrise, and no universal rule should replace care.
