Two halves of the lunar month
Shukla Paksha is the bright half, when the Moon grows from new moon toward full moon. Krishna Paksha is the dark half, when it wanes from full moon toward new moon.
શુક્લ પક્ષ પ્રકાશિત અર્ધ ભાગ છે, જેમાં ચંદ્ર અમાસ પછી પૂર્ણિમા તરફ વધે છે. કૃષ્ણ પક્ષ અંધકારમય અર્ધ ભાગ છે, જેમાં ચંદ્ર પૂર્ણિમા પછી અમાસ તરફ ઘટે છે.
Names such as Shukla Ekadashi or Krishna Chaturthi combine the paksha with a tithi to identify the lunar date.
શુક્લ એકાદશી અથવા કૃષ્ણ ચતુર્થી જેવા નામોમાં પક્ષ અને તિથિ સાથે મળીને ચંદ્ર તારીખ ઓળખાય છે.
