Origin and background
Diwali, the festival of lights, is celebrated in many Hindu, Jain, and other South Asian traditions. In Gujarati homes, it is part of a wider season that runs from Dhanteras through Narak Chaturdashi, Lakshmi Puja, Gujarati New Year, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Bij.
